The profile: your hockey life at a glance

Your profile is where a stranger decides whether to say hello, so we give hockey a proper place in it. Alongside the usual basics like age, location and what you are looking for, you can write about the sport in your own words. We suggest covering four things:

  1. Who you root for. One team, two teams, a college program, a minor league club or the US women's national team. If you switched loyalties after a move, say so; it makes a good story.
  2. Whether you play. Adult league, pickup, goalie for anyone who will have you, or retired with bad knees. Mention the night if it is fixed.
  3. How you watch. Season seats, the bar down the street, the couch with the sound off and the radio call on, or a mix of all three.
  4. How much hockey you want in a relationship. Some people want a partner at every game. Others are happy with someone who simply does not mind the schedule.

A profile that answers those questions does a lot of the early work for you. Somebody who reads that you skate Wednesdays in Burnsville and hold Wild season tickets knows exactly what they are signing up for, and knows what to ask in a first message.

Photos that tell people something

Recent, clear photos matter more than perfect ones. A shot in your jersey is fine. A shot of you at the rink, on a frozen pond or tailgating before a college game says even more. Avoid sunglasses in every picture, group shots where nobody can tell which one is you, and pictures that are more than a couple of years old. If you play goalie, at least one photo without the mask is a kindness.

Search by age and area

You can narrow profiles by age range and by where people live, so you can focus on someone you could realistically meet. That matters in a country this size. A Rangers fan in Manhattan and a Rangers fan in the Hudson Valley are two very different commutes, and a Stars fan in Fort Worth may be happy to drive to Frisco but not to Austin. Set a wide radius in places where the sport is still catching on, or keep it tight in a big metro.

Messages

When a profile interests you, send a message. The best openers are about something specific the other person wrote. "Which rink do you play at?" or "Were you at the Winter Classic?" will get further than a plain hello. Keep early conversations on the site until you feel comfortable sharing a number.

A few habits help messages turn into dates:

Safety tools

Every member can block someone, which stops that person from contacting them, and flag any profile or message that crosses a line. Reports are a way to flag fake profiles, harassment, requests for money and ticket scams. You do not need to explain yourself to block someone. If a conversation feels wrong, you can simply end it. Our trust and safety page goes into more detail on spotting trouble early.

What you can do before you upgrade

Building an account, filling in a profile, adding photos and looking through other profiles all come before any decision on a paid plan. That gives you time to see whether the site suits you. VIP and VIP Plus unlock more of the site's features. The exact prices, in US dollars, are on our pricing page: VIP starts with a one-week plan at $19.99, while VIP Plus starts with a $22.99 week.

Built for the season, not a single swipe

A hockey year has its own shape. Preseason optimism in September, the long grind of January, trade-deadline drama in March and then the playoffs, when the whole calendar shifts. Our tools do not change with the season, but the way people use them does. It makes sense to update your profile when your league schedule changes or a new season of tickets starts. If you are about to disappear into a deep playoff run, it is fair to say so in a message rather than leaving someone guessing.

Guides that go with the features

Features only help if you know what to do with them. That is why the site includes practical guides:

Local guides for ten metros

Our city guides describe the arenas, transit, public rinks and quirks of ten American hockey markets. They are a useful source of first date ideas and conversation starters, especially if you have recently moved. Start on the cities page and pick your metro.

What we deliberately leave out

We do not show member reviews or a gallery of members on our pages, and we make no claims about how many people use the site. We would rather you judge it by using it. We also do not offer ticket resale, player meetups or anything tied to a team, because we are independent and have no such access.

A short word on accounts

You will need a valid email address to sign up, and you must be 18 or older. Keep your password private and use a different one from your other accounts. If you ever think someone else has used your account, change the password and contact support.

Try it

The easiest way to understand the features is to use them. Signup Here, fill in your profile with a few honest hockey details and see who you find in your area. Members returning for a new season can sign in and update your profile for the new season.

Features for the off-season

Summer is quieter for hockey, which makes it a good time to actually use a dating site. Leagues take a break, the arena goes dark and people suddenly have open evenings. Update your profile with what you do between June and September, whether that is inline skating at the park, a ballgame, the lake or a summer hockey camp you coach. Someone who only sees your winter self is getting half the picture.

The off-season is also when many fans travel. If you will be away for a few weeks, mention it so nobody wonders why you have gone silent. When the draft and the July 1 signing frenzy roll around, you will have plenty to talk about again.

Frequently asked questions

What can I do before I upgrade?

You can create an account, build your profile, and add photos before deciding on a paid plan. VIP and VIP Plus unlock more of the site, starting at $19.99 and $22.99 for one week.

Can I search by area?

Yes. You can search by age range and by where people live, so you can stay close to home in a big metro or widen the area if hockey fans are scarce where you are.

How do I block someone?

Open the person's profile or your conversation with them and use the block option. They can no longer contact you, and you can also report them if they broke the rules.

Your next game night could include someone new.
