Hockey Dating Sites and Apps Compared

A plain look at where American hockey fans can meet people, with honest notes on when a general app beats a niche site.

Why compare at all

There is no single best dating site for every hockey fan. A Wild season ticket holder in St. Paul, a college student in Boston and a Stars fan in a small Texas town have very different options nearby. This hub sets Hockey Dating USA next to three alternatives Americans often consider, so you can decide where to spend your time.

We run Hockey Dating USA, so we have a stake in the outcome. We stuck to things you can verify on each service's own pages, we avoided guessing about anyone's audience size and we did not quote rival prices, which change often.

The summary table

Focus Hockey on your profile Prices Best for
Hockey Dating USA Hockey fans and players in the US Team, league, viewing habits Public page in US dollars People whose week revolves around hockey
Hockey Singles Hockey-themed, worldwide signups Hockey theme throughout Markets itself as no-cost; plans not on homepage People outside the US or seeking casual connections
Tinder General dating Interests, varying by location In the app Widest reach and swipe-style browsing
Bumble General dating Up to five Interest badges incl. Sports In the app Structured first moves and broad reach

The comparisons

Hockey Dating USA vs Hockey Singles

The other hockey-themed site most Americans come across. We look at who each is built for, how cost is presented and what the page titles suggest about intent. Read this if you are deciding between two hockey sites.

Hockey Dating USA vs Tinder

Swiping versus browsing, Tinder's location-dependent Interests and why a general app often wins in small towns. Read this if you already use Tinder and wonder whether a hockey profile adds anything.

Hockey Dating USA vs Bumble

Interest badges, filters, Opening Moves and the move of BFF into a separate app in the US. Read this if you like Bumble's structure but want the sport front and center.

Is there a sports dating app?

Plenty of searches are for a sports dating app in general rather than one built for hockey. A few sports-themed apps turn up in those results, but their own websites did not give us enough to describe them accurately, so they are not reviewed here. The two mainstream apps above both offer some way to list sports on a profile. If hockey is your sport in particular, a hockey-first site narrows the field to people who care about it. If you love several sports equally, a general app with sports interests may serve you better.

How to choose

Think about three things.

Where you live. In strong hockey metros, from Boston to Denver, a hockey-first site has more to offer. In places with few fans, wide-reach apps may show more people nearby.

How much hockey matters. If a partner who does not understand your schedule is a dealbreaker, start with a hockey-first site. If hockey is one interest of many, a general app with a sports badge may be enough.

What you want. Every service can lead to anything, but read how each describes itself. Some lean casual, some lean toward relationships, and some leave it open.

Should I use Tinder or Bumble instead?

Instead of, or as well as? Running two profiles side by side is common, one on a mainstream app and one here, and it takes little extra effort when both say the same things about you. If you only want one app and you live far from any hockey community, a general app is probably the practical choice. If you live in a hockey town and the sport fills your week, try a hockey-first profile first.

Questions to ask any dating service

  1. Are prices shown before you pay, and is renewal explained?
  2. Does it claim a connection with a league or team? (Be wary if so. We have none.)
  3. Is it written for your country, with local content?
  4. Does it explain blocking, reporting and common scams?
  5. Does it make size claims you cannot check?

Our prices, for reference

Hockey Dating USA lists every plan publicly. VIP runs from $19.99 for a week to $229.95 for twelve months; VIP Plus from $22.99 for a week to $338.41 for twelve months. Plans up to six months renew until cancelled, and twelve-month plans do not. Every plan, with its renewal terms, is listed on our pricing page.

What we left out, and why

We held back a comparison with Hinge until we can verify its current features for hockey fans from its own pages. We also left out sports-dating apps whose details we could not confirm. When we can check them properly, we may add them. We would rather publish fewer comparisons than inaccurate ones.

A note on reviews

We do not publish member reviews or star ratings for any service, including our own, because we cannot verify them. If you want reviews, look for independent sources and read them with a critical eye. Dating app reviews tend to come from people who had either a great or a terrible time, and the middle often goes unheard.

Sister site in Canada

If you live in Canada, or split time across the border, Hockey Dating Canada, our sister site, covers Canadian cities with separate guides and pricing.

Reading these pages critically

We would encourage a little skepticism toward any comparison written by one of the services being compared, including ours. Check each claim against the other service's own pages, which is what we did. App features change often, and something accurate today may be out of date next season. Where we were unsure, we said so rather than guessing, and we left out anything we could not confirm from a primary source.

A short glossary

Niche site: a dating service built around one shared interest, such as a sport.

General app: a service for everyone, where interests are optional tags.

Renewing plan: a paid plan that bills again at the end of each period until you cancel.

Interest badge or tag: a small label on a profile showing a hobby or passion, such as sports, travel, cooking or live music.

Try the hockey-first approach

If you have read this far, you probably care about the sport enough to try a site built around it. Signup Here and fill in your profile before choosing any plan. Already a member? Sign in. For practical advice once you are dating, see our guides.

Frequently asked questions

What's the best hockey dating site?

It depends on where you live and how much hockey matters to you. Hockey Dating USA is built for Americans whose week revolves around the sport. Hockey Singles accepts signups worldwide, and general apps like Tinder and Bumble offer wider reach.

Is there a sports dating app?

A few sports-themed apps exist, but we have not reviewed them because we could not confirm their details. Tinder and Bumble let you show sports interests, and a hockey-first site focuses on people who care about hockey in particular.

Should I use Tinder or Bumble instead?

Many fans use one alongside a hockey-first site, a general app for reach and a hockey profile for focus. If you live far from any hockey community, a general app may be the more practical single choice.
